How to choose a SaaS template that won’t slow you down
Five questions we ask before building on any template — and the red flags that cost teams weeks.

A template should remove decisions, not add them. Here is the checklist we use.
1. Can you rebrand it in an hour?
Look for design tokens: colours, radius and fonts defined once. If brand colours are scattered through components, you'll be fighting it forever.
2. Is the data model honest?
Templates that fake data with hard-coded arrays look great in demos and fall apart in production.
3. Does it pass on a phone?
Open the demo on your phone before you buy. Most "responsive" templates are desktop layouts that collapse.
4. How is it updated?
A changelog tells you whether the author is still paying attention.
5. What's the license?
Client work, SaaS and resale all need different rights. Read it before you ship.
