Far Shore: Painted Coast Wallpapers

One imaginary coast, painted through a single long summer day.

Far Shore begins before dawn, with a fishing boat and its lantern on a pink, glassy sea. It ends with the moon over dark water. In between come turquoise shallows, a red rowing boat seen from above, a lighthouse at midday, a cottage on the cliff, the dunes, the golden hour, the afterglow and the blue hour.

Every scene is painted in the same gouache-and-oil style, with visible brushwork and the grain of textured paper. Each one has a single small subject and plenty of quiet sky or water around it.

The ten scenes

• First Light: a fishing boat and its lantern on a pastel sea at dawn
• Shallows: a white sailboat over turquoise water and sand bars, seen from above
• Red Boat: a red rowing boat drifting on deep teal water, seen from above
• Lighthouse: a white lighthouse on a green headland at midday
• Cliff House: a whitewashed cottage, a stone wall and wildflowers above the sea
• Dunes: a path through marram grass to a lone beach hut
• Golden Hour: a sailboat in the sun's path over the sea, dark rocks below
• Afterglow: a wooden jetty reaching into a rose and blue evening
• Blue Hour: a moored fishing boat with one lit window in a quiet cove
• Moonrise: a full moon and its silver path over a dark sea

The morning and afternoon scenes are bright. Afterglow, Blue Hour and Moonrise are dark enough for dark mode, so you can pair a light and a dark wallpaper, or follow the day.

Made for screens

On the desktop, the subject sits near the centre, low in the frame, so your icons, widgets and menu bar sit on open sky or water. The iPhone versions are composed upright as their own paintings of each scene, not cut from the wide image, and they leave the top of the screen calm for the clock.

How they were made

The paintings were created with AI image generation (Higgsfield). Every scene was then selected, checked at 100% for flaws and stray details, and cropped by hand for each device.

Files

10 wallpapers, each in four sizes, 40 PNG files in total:

Every file is a crop or a reduction of a native 4K image. Nothing is upscaled, which is why there is no 5K size.
