Still Light — 3D Glass Wallpapers

Six still lifes of light, rendered in 3D at 5K.

Each one is a single glass object on a plaster ledge, caught in low sun from a window. The light does the rest. A lens gathers it into one bright point inside its own shadow. Hammered glass throws a ripple net across the wall. A twisted spiral bends the window into ribbons. A window cross falls over an arched niche.

Every scene comes twice: Day for light mode, and Dusk for dark mode, the same room in the last warm light of the evening. That's 12 wallpapers, each cut for your desktop, ultrawide, iPad and iPhone.

The six scenes

• Terracotta: a fluted glass column and an orb against warm terracotta plaster
• Sage: stacked glass blocks under a dappled leaf shadow
• Ripple: an upright pane of hammered glass and the caustic net it casts
• Lens: a glass lens focusing the sun to a point on oxblood plaster
• Arch: a glass orb resting in a chalk-white arched niche
• Ink: a twisted glass spiral against deep ink blue

Made for screens

The object always sits low on the left, so your icons, widgets and menu bar sit on calm wall. On iPhone the top of the frame is plain plaster, leaving room for the clock.

Rendered, not generated

Every image is a physically based 3D render: modelled glass, measured refraction, real shadows and caustics (light focused by the glass). The geometry and the light behave the way they would in a room, which is why the scenes hold up at full 5K.
